With a 1st class honours in physiotherapy from UCD, and a Masters in manipulative physiotherapy from the University of Queensland, Australia, Ciara Shields is a highly-trained medical professional who is dedicated to ensuring optimum results for her patients at all stages of their lives.
Since graduating, Ciara worked in a major Dublin Teaching Hospital for three-and-a-half years and has worked in private practice since completing her Masters in Australia. She believes in continuous professional development and is always excited about new innovations in the area of physiotherapy. Ciara regularly attends courses and conferences both internationally and at home.
Having identified a demand for medical therapeutic exercise led by a physiotherapist in a group setting, Ciara underwent training as a Pilates Instructor in 2014. She has enjoyed teaching Clinical Pilates (in addition to clinical work) in our purpose built Pilates studio since 2015.
* From 2005-2007 she was involved in teaching anatomy to undergraduate students in the Royal College Of Surgeons (RCSI).
* In 2008 and 2009 Ciara Shields lectured in orthopaedics and rheumatology to undergraduate students in RCSI She has also been involved in postgraduate teaching on the Neuromusculoskeletal Masters in physiotherapy degree in UCD, and on a course to newly graduated physiotherapists run by the ISCP.
Ciara was a guest speaker at the Irish Osteoporosis Conference in Oct ’21 and ’24. She helped to make educational videos for the Irish Osteoporosis Society for the launch of their new website.
